The Raintown Review is a gift to anyone who loves poetry at its most enduring best: poetry that actually means to communicate, and succeeds at it; that remembers to sing rather than mumble; that differs from page to page and author to author; that gives pleasure by various means; that stays in the mind as image and sound--and oh yes, as the thought that travels through those, in poetry that works.

When I drive through Nuevo Mexico, I sing Linda Ronstadt. John Oelfke, I guess I'd have named it The Suntown Review.  I've been to Santa Fe, to Albuquerque, even to Tucumcari and Tonopah, and I've never seen it rain in New Mexico. Sun shines on these pages.

For variety of expression, diversity of theme and originality of voice, bound together simply by the unifying elements of skillful musicality and true memorability of phrase, I can name a rare poetry journal in today’s scene either to rival or outrank The Raintown Review.
